Terms of Use

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms govern your use of techprobe.io and its subdomains, including the public API served under /api/v1 and its documentation (together, the “Site”), operated by TechProbe.io (“TechProbe”, “we”, “us”). By using the Site you accept them. If you do not, please stop using it.

They sit alongside our Data Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, all of which form part of these terms.

2. This site is not an offer, and not a contract for work

Everything here — services, process, timelines, availability, any figures shown — is marketing information. It is not an offer capable of acceptance, a quotation, or a commitment to deliver anything. Work is only ever agreed in a separate written engagement agreement signed by both sides. Where anything on this Site conflicts with that agreement, the signed agreement wins for everything relating to the work.

Sending the contact form creates no contract and no obligation on either side. It starts a conversation.

3. Permitted use

You may read, browse, link to and print pages of this Site for your own business or personal purposes, and use the public API to build things, subject to section 5. You may not:

• Use the Site or the API in a way that breaks the law, infringes someone’s rights, or breaches these terms.
• Probe, scan or test the security of the Site or its infrastructure, or bypass any rate limit, access control or anti-spam measure, without our written permission. (See section 12 — we welcome the report, not the surprise.)
• Introduce malware, or attempt to interfere with the availability of the Site for anyone else.
• Use the contact form to send unsolicited marketing, recruitment spam, chain messages or anything abusive, defamatory or unlawful.
• Scrape, crawl or harvest the Site beyond ordinary, well-behaved indexing, or use automated means to place load on it out of proportion to normal human use.
• Frame the Site, present it as your own, or use our name, logo or brand in a way that suggests an endorsement or a relationship that does not exist.
• Misrepresent who you are, or impersonate someone else, when contacting us.

4. Your submissions

When you send us a message through the contact form you confirm that the details are accurate, that you are entitled to share what you share, and that it is not confidential, privileged or subject to a third party’s obligations of secrecy. Do not send us sensitive personal data, credentials, patient records or anything under NDA at first contact — see the Data Privacy Policy.

We use what you send to respond and to consider whether we can help, as described in that policy. If you send us an idea, suggestion or feature request unprompted, we are free to use it without obligation, payment or acknowledgement — that is not us claiming your project; it is us being unable to promise that a general idea has never occurred to us before.

5. The public API

The read endpoints under /api/v1 serve the content of this Site and are open to use. They are provided as-is and without any service level: they are rate-limited, may be changed or withdrawn without notice, and are not fit to be a dependency of anything that matters to you. Write endpoints (the contact form and newsletter) are for genuine enquiries only. If you need a stable interface, talk to us and we will build you one.

6. Intellectual property

The Site’s content, design, text, graphics, logos and code are owned by TechProbe or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other rights. Nothing here transfers any of those rights to you; you get permission to use the Site as set out in section 3, and nothing more. Third-party names and marks appearing on the Site belong to their owners.

Ownership of work produced for a client is settled in that client’s engagement agreement, not here.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Site up but do not guarantee it. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it — including the API and any page — at any time, without notice and without liability to you. Maintenance, outages at our hosting provider and plain bugs all happen.

8. Third-party links and services

The Site links to sites we do not control and relies on third-party services (Google, our hosting provider). We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Your use of a linked site is governed by that site’s own terms.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. The full disclaimer is set out on the Disclaimer page and forms part of these terms.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, data or anticipated savings, arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Site is limited to £100 (or its local equivalent). This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and it does not apply to work done under a signed engagement agreement, which carries its own liability terms.

If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.

10. Indemnity

If your use of the Site in breach of these terms causes us loss — including a claim brought against us by someone else — you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur as a result.

11. Suspension of access

We may block access to the Site, the API or the contact form from any source that breaches these terms, abuses the service, or degrades it for others. Rate limits and anti-spam measures do some of this automatically.

12. Reporting a security issue

If you find a vulnerability in this Site, please tell us at [email protected] before telling anyone else, and give us a reasonable chance to fix it. Report in good faith, keep the testing proportionate, do not access or alter data that is not yours, and we will not pursue you for it. We build security software for a living; a good report is a favour, and we will treat it as one.

13. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the Site, are governed by the law of the country in which TechProbe.io is established, and the courts of that country have jurisdiction over them. If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

14. General

• If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
• Not enforcing a term straight away does not mean we have given it up.
• No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.
• These terms, together with the policies they reference, are the whole agreement between us about your use of the Site.

15. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms; the current version always sits on this page with its date at the top. Continuing to use the Site after a revision means you accept it. Check back if you rely on anything here.
